Dr. Heather Gilmartin is the Associate Director of Denver-Seattle COIN at the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Public Health, Department of Health Systems, Management and Policy, and the Associate Director of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI) Dissemination & Implementation Science Core.

HSHP prepares to open new Exercise Oncology Clinic that aims to improve health outcomes for cancer patients and survivors

August 25th, 2025 - Jessica Gorzelitz, an assistant professor in the Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is helping lead a new clinic and research initiative that aims to support cancer recovery through exercise accessible across Iowa.

Funded through the University of Iowa’s Public-Private Partnership (P3), the three-year $642,896 project will establish the state’s first Exercise Oncology Clinic, Gorzelitz said. The project was selected from the pool of 11 projects that were submitted through a campus-wide call for P3 proposals in fall 2024. Read the complete article.

Heather Schacht Reisinger ’96 has dedicated much of her career to closing the gap between research and real-world implementation, including her current role as the director of the University of Iowa’s recently launched Implementation Science Center.
